This website is intended to provide a place for discussions between parishes and for individuals who are involved in the Plenary Council 2020 process through their parish. Documents signed off by parishes or their official bodies will be posted on the Views from the Parishes page.

Unsolicited contributions are encouraged from individuals involved in the Plenary Council 2020 process through their parish and in an appropriate subject area on the Current Conversations page. Contributors are requested to identify their parish or other most recent Church connection. Publication is not guaranteed, and revisions may be requested. Acceptance of articles is based on quality alone. All points of view are welcome.

General guidelines for posts are that they should be:

  • no longer than 1,000 words (exceptions can be made)

  • attributed to individuals or groups associated with a particular parish, which must be specified, and

  • must have sources provided as hyperlinks (not footnotes).

Established by six parishes in Victoria, the website is overseen by an Editorial Committee, considering of:

  • Richard Curtain (St Carthage’s, Parkville)

  • John Davies (St Joseph’s, Malvern)

  • Rowan Ireland (St Francis Xavier’s, Montmorency)

  • Fr Gerard McKernan (St Kevin’s, Lower Templestowe)

  • Anne Marmion (St Thomas the Apostle, Blackburn), and

  • Peter Sheehan (St Kevin’s, Lower Templestowe).

Submissions should be sent to the editorial committee or email us on this address senseofthefaithful@gmail.com. We may edit your post. We will send you a revised post if the changes are major. If they are small, you will have to trust us. We will make as few changes as possible. Submissions will be posted, by topic, on the Current Conversations page.

All articles and photos accepted for publication will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Contributions may be edited (without consultation) for grammar and punctuation as well. We will not publish personal attacks. We may remove part of your comment if we think that part constitutes a personal attack. Criticism of organisations without reference to individuals is welcome if it serves a good purpose. It should not be gratuitous, but well-founded, based either on experience or argument. We welcome robust debate, but wish to avoid sweeping, unfounded attacks. We may hold back comments containing harsh criticism with no attempt at all to give that criticism a justified base.
